Course Title: iMaven Astrophysics iMAP101

Course Duration: 8 Weeks

Course Description:
iMAP101 is the first course in the iMaven Astrophysics series and is designed for students who have completed the Foundation Course FAP100 or the Elementary Course EAP100. This course delves deeper into the study of astrophysics, exploring advanced concepts and preparing students for more specialized topics in subsequent courses.

Course Objectives:

  1. Galactic Astronomy: Gain an in-depth understanding of our Milky Way galaxy, its structure, dynamics, and stellar populations.
  2. Stellar Evolution and Nucleosynthesis: Explore the life cycles of stars, the processes that govern their evolution, and the creation of elements in stars.
  3. The Interstellar Medium: Learn about the various components of the interstellar medium, such as gas, dust, and magnetic fields, and their role in the galaxy's evolution.
  4. Extragalactic Astronomy: Study galaxies beyond the Milky Way, including their classification, properties, and the structure of the universe on larger scales.
  5. High-Energy Astrophysics: Delve into high-energy phenomena, including black holes, neutron stars, and other extreme celestial objects.
